1. Fontaines D.C. – Skinty Fia
I think there` s not much to say about this album that hasn’t been said already. Its included in almost every Best-of-List of 2022 and it fully deserves it. I have been lucky to see this band twice after they released this masterpiece and if you haven’t fallen all over it on record, I’m sure you would after you have seen them play these songs live. Like wtf. Wow.
2. Angel Olsen – Big Time
Angel has always been one of my favourites, but with „All Mirrors“ she had lost me a bit, because I found it too overproduced and generic and it took away a lot of the imminent and intimate charme that all its predecessors had for me. With „Big Time“ Angel Olsen has gone on a more folkier route again and I love it a lot. The lyrics are super relatable too.
3. Little Simz – No Thank You
This is so good. So, so, so fucking good. Phenomenal beats. Phenomenal lyrics. „Name one time when I didn‘ deliver“ she raps on „Gorilla“. Well, there isn’t one.
4. Kae Tempest – The Line Is A Curve
I’m not 100% a fan of the new directon they are going musically, but I still think that this is one of the best things that have come out last year. Their earlier albums had better beats I think; I still love this a lot. The lyrics are incredible, as always.
5. The Garden – Horseshit on Route 66
Just simply one of the best bands ever. I also appreciate the return to the more punkier 1-2 minutes long tracks.
6. Ezra Furman – All of Us Flames
7. Big Thief – Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You
8. Static Dress – Rouge Carpet Disaster
9. Soul Glo – Diaspora Problems
10. Wet Leg – Wet Leg
